ARCATA, Humboldt County — October 26, 2026. The City of Arcata is continuing a phased annual pavement maintenance program that could affect drivers, cyclists and pedestrians on several neighborhood streets through late 2026 and possibly January 2027. According to the city’s October 12 official update, the work began September 21 and includes both pavement and sidewalk improvements.
Which streets are included?
Arcata lists Eye Street; Grant Street between Jay and Eye streets; Todd Court; Ross Street; Fickle Hill Road between Park Avenue and Bayside Road; Shirley Boulevard; Boyd Road north of Giuntoli Lane; and LK Wood Boulevard from Granite Avenue to St. Louis Road.
Contractor RAO Construction will perform sidewalk gap-filling and repairs, asphalt paving and durable road striping. Work is planned Monday through Friday, generally 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; on some days crews may be on site from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., but the city says no heavy machinery should operate before 8 a.m.
Not every road is closed all day
Because the project moves in phases, a listed street is not necessarily closed on every day of the overall schedule. Arcata instructs road users to follow temporary traffic-control devices at each work site. Weather can change the order and timing.
For specific construction problems, contact the contractor at 707-443-2118 or City of Arcata staff at 707-825-2150.
